Nosh
The Division/Devonshire St run isn’t shy of a few places to grab a quick, relatively cheap, bite to eat. It’s also seen, to the woe of many, a fair few chains spring up in recent times. Nosh though is something a bit different on both counts.
Fair dos, it’s a franchise, but this is a family run affair giving it an independent feel - whilst the focus is on freshly prepared, wholesome food at prices that’ll give any other eatery in the neighbourhood a run for their money.
The Food
It’s a midweek afternoon and the place is bustling... and we recognise more than a few faces from surrounding businesses doing as we’re doing by taking five.
We’re in the capable hands of the owner and his manager son who start us off with two soups; Wild Mushroom and Tuscan Tomato. Both are hearty offerings full of flavour and just the ticket on this blustery day.
We follow these up with a couple of paninis, Chilli Chicken & Goats Cheese and Red Pepper. The former had just the right amount of kick and was incredibly tender, whilst he latter impressed even the most hardened meat-eaters amongst us.
A lovely trio of desserts in the form of Bakewell Tart, Chocolate Chip Muffin, and their renowned Victoria Sponge, along with a few Vanilla Lattes, rounded off a particularly pleasant afternoon.
The Verdict
It’s clear that the Nosh formula is a winning one - the fact that it’s thriving amongst neighbours such as Starbucks, Costa and Subway is testament to that. A breath of fresh air.
