Dim Sum

For over six years, Dim Sum has been a consistent favourite with those in the know. The fact that it’s always rammed with Chinese diners gives you some indication to the quality and aunthenticity of the place.

Dim Sum translates as ‘a bit of heart’, but is probably best described as Chinese tapas - lots of little dishes meant to be enjoyed as part of Yum Cha, an afternoon of tea drinking and light dining. Trust us, once you’re in, you could quite happily wile away a good few hours. It’s a different world.

The Food

It’s not our first visit here by any means. Thing is, you have to keep coming back because A) it’s ace, and B) there’s so much choice it takes a few meals to even make a dent in the menu. We kick off with a couple of safe bets, crispy spring roll and Siu My (a prawn and pork dumpling).

These are swiftly followed by the exotic sounding Cuttlefish Cake and Steamed Manifold in Ginger and Spring Onion. Grilled Shredded Duck Roll and Steamed Spare Rib in Black Bean Sauce complete the feast.
Top drawer cuisine and they don’t keep you hanging on. It’s worth noting that there’s barely a dish on the Dim Sum menu over £4.00. Starters and mains are also available.

The Verdict

Given the array of choice on offer, Dim Sum is an ideal location for people with picky palettes or small tummies - and with it being a child friendly establishment, you don’t even need to get Granny to look after the kids. As far as value for money and traditional taste goes, it simply can’t be faulted.
