Alibi Lounge & Bar
In a time when bars and restaurants are boarding up the doors and windows, there’s few that’d argue Alibi is one of our recent success stories.
Its success, for us, is down to ‘the A team’. They’ve gathered a cracking bunch of people with real knowledge of both the top-end bar and local scene – combining this with an easy going attitude and a passion for providing quality on every level. Basically, they’re the mutt’s nuts – which is why we’re here for something of a Christmas party.
The Food
Cripes, they don’t do things by halves. As you’d imagine, there’s a Christmas Lunch/Dinner menu, but it’s the buffet option which has intrigued us. £9.90pp gets you a smorgasboard of seasonal delights – and they’ve really pushed the boat out for it.
As we’re escorted to our table, we’re greeted by a winter wonderland scene of sparkles, fake snow, balloons, Christmas crackers and enough food to feed an army of elves. The only thing missing is Santa himself.
It’s Christmas fare, but given that unique Alibi twist. We tuck into the likes of homemade pork pies, turkey/cranberry/ brie sandwiches, quiche, stuffing balls and seasonal cheeses.
It’s impressive stuff – with particular praise going to their ‘pigs in blankets’, turkey potato salad, garlic cheese and home made chocolate gateaux – which provided the perfect ending to what, in medieval times, would be referred to as ‘a feast’.
The Verdict
It’s exciting times for this place, and we’ve been enjoying watching its progress from day dot. If evolution happened as quickly on planet Earth as it has at Alibi, we’d all be living on the moon by now. Be it cocktails, live music, food or clubbing, they do it… and they do it very, very well.
